Husband and I ran away to the Big Smoke (Auckland, NZ, in our case) this weekend to celebrate a few achievements and milestones for my wonderful man. We headed over the harbour to Devonport for a look around and stumbled across this piece of crochet graffiti on the wharf. We totally missed it when we arrived and were with a big group of people coming off the ferry, but spotted it on our return to catch the ferry back to the city.
I love the detail - the appropriate marine theme, the fish and plants and waves. It is amazing how someone took the time to finish it so neatly and crochet it onto the banister. It is even neat underneath!
I wonder how long it has been there? Who made it? How long it will stay there? Where else is there crochet graffiti?
And, I wonder how many other people it has made smile?

Wow - love it! Have always wanted to do a bit of yarn bombing myself too.
