Small Ones

I've been a bit one note with my craft lately-
making these blanket birds in flocks.
I now have 3 sizes mastered, the small ones being the latest.
They are addictive and I can't stop making them.
I love working with the blankets and leather.
With some more wool blanket op-shop finds I'm having fun
playing with different colours for the Kiwi.
The small ones at 12cm (kiwi) and 15cm (Pukeko) are my new favourite.
What to you think?

(See here for details if you want one or I'm hoping to have some in my little shop in the next week or two,
but they keep finding homes faster than I can list them.)

Wool Creations in Weird Places

Have you ever stumbled across craft in a weird place- where others would probably over look it, but it stops you in your tracks?
This happened at Alcatraz in San Francisco on our USA trip recently. A jail.
We were wandering around the cells...
...when i spotted something suspicious out of the corner of my eye.
Gasp!  It is pink crochet in a cell!
Apparently it was not out of the ordinary to pass the time crocheting.
I don't expect the pink gave the hardened criminal inmate much kudos.

In June this year, in a different location entirely, I stumbled across this piece of crochet graffiti or yarn bombing on the wharf at Devonport, Auckland, NZ
 (see here).
Recently a friend sent me this article that she found (from here).  It is about knitting graffiti, not crochet graffiti, but the location is identical and it is yarn bombing all the same.
Interesting.
Let me know if you come across some anywhere else.
Have a good weekend.

Blanket Baby Birds

There have been a few new babies arrive around the place lately.
So, I made some baby versions of my blanket Kiwi and Pukeko.

Here is a little Kiwi family:

And, here is a little Pukeko family:

These 3 baby birds are ready go to their new homes:

I keep being asked if my blanket birds are available anywhere.
Well, they are now!
I've started making them to order.
So, please contact me if you are interested in one.
They are made from my own pattern out of reclaimed woolen blankets, cotton and leather.
Two sizes are available at the moment.
